This is a very well done museum where you can get very very close to the items on display. Each item has a full description and explanation of its significance. There is a good mix of interactive exhibits and just things to look at. Of course then you can actually tour the house itself. It's a must-do if you are in the area and care about American History.
An interesting museum at a reasonable price. Some level of history revision to paint FDR in a little more positive light, but not egregious. Nice artifacts from the era. Interesting stories of a man committed to his adopted community. The house itself speaks to a level of modesty not seem in politics today. Definitely worth a visit.
The friendliest park staff I've ever encountered at any state or national park. Tour guides Curt & Sandra were very informative and didn't mind questions. They were very interested in giving us a 1st rate experience. I'm not a huge fan of FDR but wanted to see this place because of it's historical value. The staff here blew me away. Very clean. Handicapped accessible. Beautiful grounds. Has an unapologetic feeling of American pride throughout. Points out a president with an America first point of view. Exibits what's best about this country.
The house itself is even smaller than you might have imagined, but it is only part of a more complex site, including a wonderful museum, grounds including the Marine and Secret Service outposts as they were when FDR visited, and access to the nearby and recovered warm springs pools where Roosevelt enjoyed the "healing" waters. It is fascinating and well worth the drive and price of admission. You can walk right through the house and see all of the furnishings, linens, and supplies in place just as they were during FDR's visits right up to when he died there in the bedroom. I strongly recommend it to anyone interested in visiting sites of historical interest and political relevance.
Very interesting history. You can avoid the pools. Nothing much at all to see other than some concrete and air temp water. The museum is nice and clean with lots of collections. The house and quarters were very neat to see. Definitely would recommend, but it could be a little better, especially as a state park commemorating a president.
